Intuit frontend interviews center on the Craft Demo: build a React app against an API, present it to a panel, then extend it live. Here’s how to prepare.
This guide is built from 14 Intuit interview reports shared by FrontendLead members between December 2023 and August 2026, cross-checked against Intuit’s official hiring process page and its engineering blog. You’ll learn how each stage works, what the Craft Demo involves, the coding topics that keep coming back (exact prompts are in the members-only sections), and a prep plan mapped to practice on FrontendLead.
The biggest pattern: Intuit cares less about puzzles and more about whether you can build and explain a small product. Members built small data-driven product screens, demoed them, and then added features while interviewers watched. Your presentation and trade-off reasoning matter as much as the code. One member’s tip: plan the presentation as carefully as the build.

02Intuit frontend interview process
Intuit calls its final round “Assess for Awesome,” or A4A. Its hiring page lays out a typical final day, and member reports describe the screens that lead up to it.
- 1
Recruiter or hiring manager screen
About 30 minutesExpect your background, project architecture, why you want to change roles, and what you expect from the next one. A staff member’s screen covered exactly those topics with a few basic behavioral questions. One intern was asked about enthusiasm for Intuit’s products and whether they preferred frontend, backend, or full stack, which determined the team for the next round.
- 2
Technical screen
About 60 minutesFormats vary. Members reported:
- A deep project discussion for 30 minutes, then a small React problem.
- JavaScript and React fundamentals plus one coding question, such as an array utility.
- A LeetCode easy or medium problem in a shared editor, often dynamic programming, plus questions about AI tools, RAG, and LLMs.
- 3
Craft Demo preparation
About 90 minutes to 2.5 hoursIntuit’s page says engineers usually spend about 90 minutes setting up tools and solving a technical problem on their own before presenting it. Members describe a React build focused on an API, with an engineer chaperoning. One member had 15 minutes to set up a local environment, then 90 minutes to build. A 2026 SE-II member received it as a take-home after the screen instead. Ask your recruiter which format you will get.
- 4
Craft presentation
60 minutes, about 4 hiring team membersIntuit asks you to open with a short intro about yourself, with pictures, and your personal and professional achievements. Then you walk through what you built and answer cross-questions. Members were asked to extend the app live, write unit tests, and discuss performance.
- 5
Assessor, values, and manager interviews
45, 30, and 30 to 60 minutesIntuit lists a 45-minute interview with two assessors who deep dive into your skills and follow up on the case study, a 30-minute values interview with a cross-functional colleague, and a 30 to 60 minute conversation with a people manager. Members reported that follow-up coding rounds added features to the Craft app and mixed in JavaScript fundamentals.

Decision
Within about 24 hoursIntuit commits to giving feedback within 24 hours of your final interview. Intuit also uses pool hiring for some roles, so you may be evaluated for more than one team.
03What the Intuit Craft Demo tests
Intuit’s engineering blog explains how the Craft exercise evolved. It started as an open-ended take-home, then moved into the interview day so every candidate gets the same time box. To keep that short window focused, Intuit added boilerplate code and user stories, and it scores candidates on a rubric that includes programming fundamentals, design and architecture, communication, and operational excellence.
In practice, that means four things matter:
| Rubric area | What it looks like in your Craft Demo |
|---|---|
| Programming fundamentals | Clean components, correct state updates, and no stale data after edits |
| Design and architecture | A data model that handles relationships, such as one record linked to many others |
| Communication | A clear demo that explains what you built, what you skipped, and why |
| Operational excellence | Loading and error states, tests, and a plan for performance at scale |
Tips from members:
- Work through the user stories in order and get each one working before polishing.
- Keep a running list of shortcuts you took. Present it as “what I would add with more time.”
- Expect the panel to pick a weak spot and ask you to fix or extend it live.
- One senior member was rejected for not having enough relevant experience for the role, despite completing the rounds. Tie your project stories to the team’s product area.

07Behavioral and values interview at Intuit
Intuit’s five values are Integrity Without Compromise, Courage, Customer Obsession, Stronger Together, and We Care and Give Back. The final day includes a dedicated values interview, and the hiring manager conversation covers what motivates you and your key successes and learnings.
Questions members were asked:
- Tell me about your experience with React and TypeScript.
- Walk me through the architecture of a recent project.
- What is your motivation to change jobs, and what do you expect from this role?
- Have you built anything with AI tools or LLM APIs? What do you know about RAG and prompt engineering?
The AI question appeared in two senior reports from 2025. Have one concrete example ready, even a small one, such as a feature that calls an LLM API, and explain how you handled latency, cost, and wrong answers.
Prepare three stories:
- A time you changed a feature after watching real users struggle with it (Customer Obsession).
- A time you pushed back on a plan or took a bold technical bet (Courage).
- A cross-team project where you brought design, product, and backend together (Stronger Together).
08How to prepare for the Intuit frontend interview
Prepare for the Craft Demo first. It is the longest and most heavily weighted part of the final day.
| Days | Focus | Practice |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 3 | Timed Craft rehearsal | Build a small data-table app with linked records in 90 minutes against a mock API, then present it to a friend for 15 minutes |
| 4 to 5 | Tables and data handling | Paginated Orders Table and Inventory Data Grid |
| 6 | Live extensions | Debounce I and Multi-Key Group By, added to your practice app |
| 7 to 8 | JavaScript fundamentals | Flatten I, Memoize I, Curry Function, and event loop trivia |
| 9 to 10 | Dynamic programming | Vending Machine Change and Count Code Decodings |
| 11 to 12 | System design | Auto Complete Search and Design a Form Builder |
| 13 to 14 | Values and AI stories | Three stories from the behavioral questions plus one AI project example |
Before the real Craft Demo, prepare a project template with your preferred React setup, a testing library, and a simple fetch wrapper. Set-up time is short, and you don’t want to debug tooling. The study plans can turn your interview date into a daily schedule.
09Intuit frontend interview FAQ
What is the Intuit Craft Demo?
It is a hands-on build followed by a presentation. You build a small app, usually in React against an API, in about 90 minutes to 2.5 hours, then present it to about four members of the hiring team and answer questions. Some candidates get it as a take-home instead.
How long is the Intuit frontend interview process?
Typically a recruiter screen, one technical screen, and a final day of several hours. Intuit says it gives feedback within 24 hours of the final interview. Total time depends on scheduling; confirm with your recruiter.
Does Intuit ask LeetCode questions for frontend roles?
Sometimes. Members reported dynamic programming problems and, for an intern role, a stack-based array problem. Most frontend signal still comes from the Craft Demo and JavaScript fundamentals.
Can I use React in the Intuit Craft Demo?
Yes. Members describe React as the expected framework for the Craft Demo. Confirm the stack and whether boilerplate is provided before your interview day.
Does Intuit ask about AI in frontend interviews?
Two senior members in 2025 were asked whether they have built anything with AI tools or LLM APIs, and about RAG and prompt engineering. Have one concrete example ready.
What are Intuit’s values?
Integrity Without Compromise, Courage, Customer Obsession, Stronger Together, and We Care and Give Back. The final day includes a 30-minute values interview with a cross-functional colleague.
